How Does It Work?
Upon purchasing a Textable Coffee Card template from our shop, you are ready to head to the Starbucks app and generate a barcode.
- Download the Starbucks App on your iPhone or Android device.
- Once the app is downloaded, create your free account by clicking on "Join Rewards."
- Select a gift card. The design and colors don't matter — all you'll need is the barcode generated from the gift card.
- Fill out all the required contact information. Enter your own email address as the recipient and skip the message part.
- Decide on the dollar amount to load onto the card and add your credit card for payment.
Next, check your email. You will receive 3 different emails from Starbucks.
- The first is your receipt — save this for accounting purposes (it's a business marketing expense).
- The second email notifies you that the gift card has been delivered to you as the recipient.
- The last email contains the e-gift card with the barcode you'll be sharing with your clients. Open this email and click Redeem my eGift now. This will display the e-gift card with a large barcode. Take a screenshot of the barcode.
Next, open the Textable Coffee Card you purchased.
- Upload your screenshot (saved on your computer).
- Crop the screenshot to include only the barcode.
- Drag the barcode into place on the Textable Coffee Card.
Next, customize the rest of your Textable Coffee Card:
- Edit colors, fonts, images, and the message — everything is customizable.
- Add your contact details.
Now, you are ready to text your coffee card.
- Go to Share in the top right-hand corner.
- Choose JPEG.
- Download.
- Open your Messages app, click the + sign, select Add Photos, choose the image, and send.
Pro Tip: You can create a new barcode for a complimentary drink each time you send a message, or create one barcode once and reuse it in every text message template. If you choose to reuse the same barcode, you can set the gift card to automatically reload so it always has funds available.
Setting the Card to Reload
If you plan to use the same barcode for every message, setting up auto-reload is the easiest option.
Using the card number and PIN from the email, add the gift card to your personal Starbucks app. Once the card appears in your app, select Manage and turn on Auto Reload, setting it to reload $20.
With auto-reload enabled, the card will automatically add funds whenever the balance runs out — ensuring the barcode always works when your clients use it at Starbucks.
